Building a Safer, More Connected Charles Village

A safe community is the foundation of a thriving neighborhood. The Charles Village Community Benefits District Public Safety Program is dedicated to enhancing a sense of safety and security throughout the district by providing a highly visible, community-focused patrol presence.

Operating seven days a week, our Public Safety Ambassadors patrol more than 100 city blocks across Charles Village, Abell, Harwood, Old Goucher, Barclay, and portions of Remington. Their presence helps deter crime, identify quality-of-life concerns, assist residents and visitors, and strengthen relationships between the community and its public safety partners.

While our ambassadors are not law enforcement officers, they serve as trusted community resources who observe, report, assist, and engage. By working collaboratively with residents, businesses, institutions, and the Baltimore Police Department, the Public Safety Program helps foster a safer, more welcoming neighborhood for everyone.

Our Mission

The CVCBD Public Safety Program exists to improve quality of life by creating a visible, approachable presence throughout the community. Through proactive patrols, neighborhood engagement, and strong partnerships, our ambassadors help make Greater Charles Village a place where people feel comfortable living, working, learning, shopping, and visiting. A Safety Director is in place to conduct risk assessments as they relate to physical spaces throughout the community. The team also responds to emergency situations and assists in the coordination of crisis management.
