Our Services

Safety Escorts - Call 410-419-3170

When available, ambassadors provide walking safety escorts within the district to help residents, employees, students, and visitors reach their destination with greater peace of mind during evening hours.

Proactive Neighborhood Patrols

Public Safety Ambassadors conduct highly visible evening patrols throughout residential neighborhoods, commercial corridors, parks, parking areas, and public gathering spaces. Their consistent presence helps deter unwanted behavior while providing reassurance to residents and businesses.

Business & Resident Assistance

Our ambassadors regularly engage with business owners, employees, residents, and visitors to answer questions, provide information, and respond to non-emergency concerns. Building relationships is one of the most important aspects of our work.

Observation & Reporting

Ambassadors continuously monitor neighborhood conditions and report suspicious activity, public safety concerns, damaged infrastructure, and quality-of-life issues to the appropriate agencies for follow-up.

Coordination with Public Safety Partners

The Public Safety Program maintains strong working relationships with the Baltimore Police Department, Baltimore City agencies, local institutions, neighborhood associations, and community organizations. By sharing information and coordinating responses, we help ensure concerns are addressed quickly and effectively.

A Customer Service Approach to Public Safety

One of the defining characteristics of the CVCBD Public Safety Program is our commitment to service.

Our ambassadors are trained to be approachable, professional, and respectful in every interaction. Whether providing directions, assisting someone in need, reporting hazards, or simply checking in with a local business, they represent our commitment to exceptional customer service and community care.

Every interaction is an opportunity to build trust and strengthen neighborhood relationships.

More Than Patrols

Public safety is about more than responding to incidents—it is about creating an environment where people feel connected, supported, and confident in their surroundings.

During every shift, the team may:

  • Check on businesses and community partners

  • Assist visitors with directions and neighborhood information

  • Report damaged streetlights and infrastructure

  • Identify abandoned vehicles and illegal dumping

  • Notify City agencies of maintenance concerns

  • Observe and report suspicious activity

Their daily interactions help build trust while improving communication between the community and local agencies.

Supporting Economic Vitality

A safe, welcoming neighborhood encourages investment, attracts visitors, and supports local businesses.

The Public Safety Program contributes to a positive customer experience by maintaining a visible presence in commercial corridors, assisting visitors, and helping create an environment where people feel comfortable shopping, dining, attending events, and exploring Charles Village.
