Mission Statement
Mayor Dixon & the CVCBD Sanitation Team & Staff
The Charles Village Community Benefits District Management Authority comprises a 100–block area, boasts a population of over 14,000, has more than 700 businesses, and is home to four distinct neighborhoods: Abell, Charles Village, Harwood, and Old Goucher. The Management Authority oversees the provision of supplemental sanitation and safety services, and it promotes and markets the District. Property owners in the District pay a tax-surcharge of 12 cents per $100 assessed property value to fund these services.
The CVCBDMA's mission statement is: "To provide Charles Village with sanitation and safety services, while empowering the community and educating residents on ways to keep the neighborhoods safe and clean."
The CVCBDMA strives to fulfill its mission by -
- Providing sanitation and safety services in addition and supplementary to, services provided by the City of Baltimore: The Clean Team works on the streets and alleys of the district every day to remove litter and debris from sidewalks, gutters, tree wells and storm drains, supplementary to the responsibilities of the City and Charles Village residents. The Safety Team patrols throughout the District serving as the eyes and ears of the community and provides a visible presence to foster security and deter crime.

- Providing Information and education to the community: Through a variety of mediums, the Clean and Safety Teams and the Coordinator of Outreach and Communication work with residents to provide information on how to access city services. Some examples include fliers, welcome packets, community meetings, email blasts, and even this website. We endeavor to make the community aware of sanitation rules and help residents keep their property and vehicles safe.
- Addressing issues that help our community stay safe and clean: Staff works to prevent sanitation problems by reporting sanitation and safety code violations to appropriate city agencies, and by providing follow-up with both residents and the City.
